Nestled into a grove of mature oak trees, this net-zero energy modern estate is an interplay between solid and void. Stone walls create moments of shelter and privacy, while floor-to-ceiling glass opens the home to the landscape, creating refuge and romance. Designed as a collection of smaller volumes, the home settles gently into the site. The heart of the home is an area of leisure that celebrates indoor-outdoor living, socialization, relaxation, and refreshment around the pool. Sustainability is woven into the architecture itself, with stone mass walls, triple-paned glazing, carefully oriented roofs for on-site solar renewable energy production, and geothermal heating and cooling. The result is a home that serves as a mediator, connecting people to one another and the land.
