3 Fold. A Bakery Café Design

3 Fold. A Bakery was envisioned as Oak Park's premier destination for specialty artisanal viennoiserie, croissants, and coffee. Its mission is to create a memorable experience within an intimate, inviting atmosphere that encourages gathering and fosters community.

We designed a compact, highly efficient bakery counter and coffee service station using exposed brick and warm wood tones that echo the golden color of freshly baked croissants. The gently curved bakery counter draws inspiration from early twentieth-century Parisian pâtisseries, while open shelving celebrates the craft of baking by offering guests a glimpse into the working kitchen beyond.

A variety of seating options—including bar seating for individuals, café tables for small groups, and a built-in banquette for larger gatherings—creates a welcoming environment for every type of guest, whether stopping in for a morning coffee or lingering over conversation.

A deep green palette references the glazed terracotta of the building's historic façade, creating a visual connection between exterior and interior. Like the layered folds of a croissant, the design folds history, craftsmanship, and community into a cohesive whole. The result is a space that is unmistakably French in spirit, thoughtfully rooted in Oak Park.
