Mid-Century Modern Inspired River Forest Home Design

Inspired by the mid-century modern lineage of this home, we brought simplicity and functionality by relocating the kitchen from a dark back corner to the light-filled middle of the home. We connected the home to nature through a new 22-foot-wide sliding door to open the kitchen to the outside dining terrace.

A curated palette of natural materials, including clear-finished plain sawn walnut, terrazzo flooring, and olive glazed tiles, all come together to regraft this design to the home’s mid-century modern roots.
